Randy was first invited to the Ottawa Folk Festival by Gene Swimmer in 2002 to photograph his Festival. Randy has returned year after year, singing the Festival's praises. He has captured many magical musical moments with artists such as Michael Franti, Feist, Broken Social Scene, Emilou Harris, Richard Thompson, Willy P. Bennett, Harry Manx,
Colin Linden, Colin James, Buffy Sainte Marie and the list goes on.

Every year brings pleasant surprises. Hats off to Chris White, the Festival's Artistic Director, for his great line-ups offered in intimate settings nestled within Britannia Park along the Ottawa River.

Aside from their main performances, all artists are called upon to give a workshop - how great it is so see a main act on a little side stage, giving a workshop alongside other acts. Last year, the Festival brought Ana Muira, Broken Social Scene and Performance Poet Timothy Mason together for an unforgetable afternoon performance in the the Dance Tent.

In Memory of Odetta (born Holmes)

December 31, 1930 - December 2, 2008

We'd like to thank the Festival for giving Randy the opportunity to first photograph Odetta during an afternoon interview with Lynn Saxberg of the Ottawa Citizen and then to capture her mind blowing evening show with Dave Keyes on the main stage. In Memory of Willie P. Bennett

October 26, 1951 - February 15, 2008

Last year's Festival paid tribute to the life of
Willie P. Bennett. through song, stories and a mural painted by Arthur II and Willie P.'s family and fans.
